A Truly Superb ,  Museum Grade  &  Very Rare Mappin and Webb Guilloche Enamel St. Silver Sub Miniature Clock ~ Carriage Clock   c1915 ,  in outstanding original condition by one of the world’s leading sub miniature  clocks  &  carriage clock movements ,  JTC  The Geneva Clock  Company.

I have always admired & coveted these Amazing early 20thC  Guilloche enamel miniature or carriage clocks  ~  with this being only the 2nd that I have owned in 30+  years of dealing & coveting these Amazing little clocks!

Strictly speaking these are not carriage clocks ,  more sub miniature clock.   Mappin & Webb sold the Best that were made!    At least within the U.K.

Having only ever owned 2 in over 30 years of dealing as mentioned ,   with this being the only Mappin & Webb sub miniature Guilloche enamel clock that I have ever handled  & are amongst the very rarest to be found with JTC Geneva Clock Company movements  &  this clock would be a proud addition to any high end collection of antique clocks  or collectors of superior enamel pieces.

Being sold by one of the United Kingdoms foremost specialists in fine & rare decorative art’s  &  Only carried the very finest of the best available  and well over one hundred years later Mapping and Webb’s name is still associated superior quality & the best available  &  highly sought the world over.

This Rare Mappin and Webb Guilloche Enamel St. Silver Sub Miniature Clock c1920 is nothing short of exceptional  &  amazingly ~  it remains in outstanding original condition as well.

Dating to the start of the late Edwardian / early art deco period ,  1915 ,  the silver content actually rates above sterling silver  @  935 ,  instead of 925.     The superb engine turned  decoration , which is accentuated by the numerous layers of enamel  ,   eventuating in what is called Guilloche enamel …….. a Very laborious & highly skillful art ,  that was  also extremely prone to misfiring in the kiln  & therefore very costly to produce.

The condition of this outstanding clock is about as good as you will ever see ,  literally.   The photo’s did not quite pick up the vibrant blue colourway of the gorgeous blue guilloche enamel  &  really do not do this beautiful piece any justice at all ,   not when compared to how it looks in person!

Standing approx;  65  x  44 x 32 mm’s …… this really is a  “cute as”  clock  &  very few people would not be drawn too & admire this classic piece when presented with it.

Note the silver marks under , the 4  x  squashed bun feet , silver swing handle  &  the beautifully engraved script to the rear sterling silver door.      The decoration to all edging ,  including the base of the swing handle  …… a very nice touch  &  a sign of quality in enamel work.

This Exceptional & Rare Mappin and Webb Guilloche Enamel St. Silver Sub Miniature Clock c1920 is a very highly sought after piece & would not be out of place sitting amongst a collection of  “The Best of The Best”  of antique horology ,  in Any country  &  in Any Collection   ~   it Is simply That Good!

The condition is about as good as you could ever hope to find one of these Rare Mappin and Webb Guilloche Enamel St. Silver Sub Miniature Clock in …. it is  “as good as they come”  ~  Literally!

Further details added when time permits ….. yet we were keen to list this to share it with our regular visitors ………… and would suggest that this outstanding Rare Mappin & Webb Guilloche Enamel St. Silver Sub Miniature Clock (Early 20thC Miniature Clock) will be widely admired  &  if you have any interest in this superbly beautiful clock it may be advisable to ask your questions promptly ….. as this should find a new home quite quickly ,  at least I would expect it to
